The college volleyball season will end in December at the KFC Yum! Center.

Will Louisville, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Nebraska be among the Final Four teams? Some might make it, but there are no guarantees.

The perennial powers are ushering in the season today in Louisville at the AVCA First Serve Showcase.

The Wildcats will face the Cornhuskers at 7 p.m. today, followed by the Cardinals and Badgers at about 9 p.m.

The teams are in the top 10 AVCA preseason rankings: Nebraska (2), Wisconsin (3), Louisville (6) and Kentucky (9).

This is Dani Busboom Kelly's eighth season with the Cardinals. Under her direction, the Cardinals have advanced to two Final Fours and four Elite Eights, winning four ACC titles.

Wildcats coach Craig Skinner is entering his 20th season with a record of 445-147.

He is the Wildcats' all-time winningest coach and the first SEC volleyball coach to lead their team to an NCAA title.

No. 6 Louisville volleyball defeated No. 3 Wisconsin, 18-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-20, in the AVCA First Serve Showcase for its first win of the 2024 season.

Louisville volleyball takes third set

Louisville won the third set, 26-24, after a service ace by Elena Scott. Louisville leads Wisconsin, 2-1.

Cards find their rhythm in second set

The Cards won the second set, 25-17. They closed the set on a 10-3 run.

Nebraska gets its first win of the 2024 season in four sets against Kentucky, 25-21, 22-25, 25-15, 25-20.

The Cornhuskers recorded six blocks and 13 digs in the third set. They won the set, 25-15.

Wildcats rally in second set

After a slow start to the second, the Wildcats won the set, 25-22. DeLeye had 10 kills through two sets, and Emma Grome had 22 assists.

The Cornhuskers jumped to a 10-4 lead over the Wildcats in the second set.

Nebraska volleyball finishes strong to win first set of AVCA Showcase

Nebraska went on an 8-2 run to close out the first set of the AVCA First Serve Showcase. Combining for nine kills, Merritt Beason and Lindsay Krause led the Cornhuskers to a 25-21 victory.
