Thanks for the tip about the connections. I have had the same problem, the awning will go out but 95% of the time it won't retract. I will definitely check all of those connections to see if that is my problem also. I am not about to spend $1000 on their new board to fix a problem with THEIR control board. They should retrofit any of the old boards for free.

Have you completed the direct connection as shown in the other picture?

Solution shown in original post.

Except for behavior of the TouchPad LED I do not see any difference in function. As far as I can tell, it works the same. I have 600 series as well.

This may or may not be of interest to all;

During our 10 years of full timing and

After Having spent some time at a FMCA Rally with a Michelin tire design engineer, Iwas informed of the following.

The 315 tire product made by Michelin was created due to the constant side wall failure of the 295, in the application of trash, garbage, truck use.

Being constantly overloaded and traveling to landfills, it was a warranty nightmare for Michelin.

Initially Michelin published an inflation chart, showing inflation, using a 8.25" or a 9.00" X 22.5" wheel.

I used 315's on 8.25" X 22.5" wheels ona 05 Dynasty full timing 2 years, then on a 07 Executive for 8+ years, full timing,

Be sure to READ ALL the information on page 29, in the Michelin Brochure available by opening the below link.

It states that ANY RV can use a 8.25" X 22.5" wheel for the 315, prior to ANY RV manufactured before 1-1-2018.

The brochure was updated in April, 2023.

Great information on tires and HOW to WEIGH your COACH.

I just got my renewal from State Farm on the Camelot. Up to over $1900 from over $1500. That's as much as the insurance on my house! I'm insured in Illinois. When I bought this 4 years ago I think the premium was around $1200.

Then I'm also paying around $1000 for a 2010 Silverado ext. cab and $1000 for a 2018 GMC Terrain, and the Terrain is under the drive safe and save plan which is a huge pita. It would be $250 more otherwise.

I need to shop badly but I put in a claim for a new windshield and I'd be more comfortable with cancelling my insurance after the windshield was installed and paid for. That won't happen until November since I'm waiting and getting it done in Lakeland at Coach Glass on my way to our winter home, no one that Coach Glass recommended here close to me made me feel comfortable about their qualifications.

This windshield is my first claim on this motorhome. I turned in tow truck damage but State Farm made the tow truck company's insurance pay for that so I should be held at fault for that one.

Killing me!

I'd like to become a Florida resident but I hear that rates are even higher there than IL.

I would have thought by 2009 that Cummins would have upgraded the exhaust brake since it has marginal performance with this size rig. I also would think if there was an exhaust brake it would be easily seen. I can get to mine to lubricate by lifting the hatch door in front of the closet.

Larger, heavier coaches usually have larger engines than the C-Series.
Most people buying the smaller coaches are more interested in price, and the engine brake is a pricey option.

I've found my Pacbrake quite effective on my coach, even when towing a nearly 10k pound trailer in mountains.

I'm sure this is not new news, but there are some industries that post rate increases higher than their increased costs. Newspapers, magazines, trash, insurance, cable are some that come to mind. They know that when they raise their rate, a small number of subscribers will drop them. The rest will accept the new cost. The rate increase is far above their cost increment, so while they encounter a small loss. they gain a big profit with every change. They will never offer you their best rate because you are not a new customer, so the only way to get a best rate is to change providers. Count on it.

Thanks Paul for the Michelin link. 2nd picture is Michelin’s reduce chart for a 315 on a 8.25” rim… 3rd is another manufacturer’s chart and the J lbs is at 120 psi. Yes, the Michelin reduces the single 270 lbs at 120 psi BUT not when used as a dual…7610X2=15220.

Why is it not derated when used as a dual on the 8.25” rim??? My answer is the dual’s weight is not exceeding the rim’s 7650 lb rating where the single is IF you put more than 113 psi in a 315 you are starting to exceed the rim’s rating.. I’ve put 80K miles without using the reduced chart which reduces my front psi a-12 psi and no abnormal wear.

Bottom line… do whatever your comfortable with.

100% agree with this.

I had the same insurance company for ~20 years and just accepted the increases UNTIL I didn't. Went out for quotes and changed providers and saved a bunch. Had that company for ~4 years and the rates started to creep up so I went out for quotes again and changed providers and saved $$$. On my 3rd insurance company in ~8 years. But it's getting harder and harder to find lower rates and I'm out of tricks. Already bundle, increased deductible, have a good record, excellent credit score. We'll see what happens this next year.

Thanks. A lot . i'm almost afraid to ask.. what happens if you have the electronic model and the king controller goes out?

The King controller is an electronically controlled motor to pull a physical cable-actuated throttle. Even if the motor has an ECU, you can pull the throttle and make it rev up. In fact an ECU-controlled motor probably has the throttle position sensor on the throttle, so it might work better than on the mechanical motors.

Mitchell,

One test you can perform is to power your frig with AC power. If it works correctly, the reason it doesn’t work on LP is likely a low flame, either because the orifice/burner is dirty or clogged with rust or your gas pressure isn’t high enough. I would check both things and correct as needed. If the performance is marginal on AC too, check your fans on the back to make sure they are running and not dirty. I added extra fans and it helped. I also adjusted my gas pressure to the upper limit and cleaned the burner. These things improved performance quite a bit.

My Tale is the reverse. My Independent Agent switched from (or was not allowed to write) Hartford. We had the top amount allowed for an Umbrella or Personal Liability policy. It was combined with the Auto and Home. We had three cars and the House. The MH was insured by National General.

OK...requoted. Auto Owners was the company that ended up with our Car and Auto. We saved X Dollars. OK....GREAT. Then, when the MH came up due in 4 months, BINGO....Progressive was X Higher. SO...it was a wash.

Then this year, we shopped around. Have a cousin that was a successful State Farm Agent. His 50 or so YO Daughter had worked for him for 30 years. He had to "GIVE UP" the agency. He could NOT sell it. SF did a "settlement" and then sold the Franchise, a VERY LUCTRATIVE ONE... to another person. They did NOT want the Daughter.

She went to work for a competitor. REALLY KNEW her stuff as she had been "Running It" for at least 10 or more years.

She tried to get us back with Hartford. We have had NO CLAIMS...or maybe the last Home was 20 years ago for Lightning in an AC unit. Maybe Hurricane Fran...1996. NO AUTO CLAIMS. No accidents. DW's car had been rear ended....but the other company paid in full.

SO...I tried some other independents here. SAME THING. The Liability Limit was reduced to 40% of the Max I had. In fairness, Hartford said that they would up it but Loyds of London with be the Supplemental carrier.

SO, Renewed the Auto Owners. YES...big increase. Then Progressive hit us with a big rate increase. That was almost double the original National General's policy.

I did forget that we had one windshield replaced due to a stone and maybe 3 stone chip repairs ($50 each).

Sooo... That' my story....

Maybe the fact that we are 78 and 79 influenced it....

MY CONCLUSION. Be SURE that you CAN get comparable coverage before you pull the pin...

The regulators fail. Unless you have the instruments (Manometer?) to check the Water Column pressures (OK...You CAN make one....visit YouTube)...then a new Regulator might be the answer...or if you can jury rig a Propane tank with a regulator and a 20 Pound cylinder...

Next is the Fans. The Norcold uses a special lower TEMP sensor. It is mounted on an outside fin of the condensing coil or the "rectangular" device at the very top. They sometimes go bad. Cheap to replace. I lowered the ON/OFF temp on my Dometic....I read the specs and the Norcold ran lower. Maybe ON at 120 and off at 105. Dometic was ON at 130 and off at 115. The Dometic worked a LOT better. Of COURSE if you boondock, it gonna RUN more.

The other thing....are the FANS working. Can't recall, but it is the service manual and the parts list. THINK there is two buried...or at least they were on my Dometic. I added an additional Exhaust Fan. It was a Fantastic Fan that fit in a Plastic Box....like a small floor fan. I did a little ducting and had it EXHAUSTING out the upper vent...mine was on the side...but it would work with a Roof Vent. If you have a small fan...even a reciprocating (lock it out), then try increasing the air flow from the bottom or pulling from the top. You want MORE CFM over the Condensing coil or fins.

BTW, the Unit is SUPPOSED to cool better on Propane. Or at least that is my memory. You have MORE heat.. but it cools faster, but YOU NEED more CFM over the Condensing coil....at the top.

Generator issue after washing engine bay
MJ.STIGER

2005 Monaco executive. Washing the engine bay today I had the generator running during my degreasing and washing the generator stopped running .

I went to investigate and I could hear the generator making a clicking sound. It was off and not running. I turned the battery power off and clicking stopped.

I ended up turning the battery back on. I could hear the generator clicking I unplugged the harness at the front of the generator and the clicking stopped.

I was able to start the generator from the main switch on it self.

I looked thought my wiring diagram hoping to find the wiring for the generator but seems like I could not find it in the big book I have.

wondering if any one has had a similar issue or experience?

I think there is a short on the stop leg of the generator. But odd it would start when I was washing the engine bay.

Going to let it sit and see it something got wet and it drys out. But I would also like to dig into it so I know where the issue is coming from.

The generator wiring harness connector on the side of the generator which is for remote starting, etc. is notorious for causing odd behaviors when it gets any moisture or wet inside.

Open up the connector and dry it out plus use a small amount of dielectric grease on the inside and re-seat the connector.

Rear AC Not Working
NAMVET77

My bedroom AC went out at the MS meeting this year. Had someone there check it out and they said the compressor was bad and the whole AC unit would have to be replaced. After we returned from our trip I took the cover off to do an inspection. What I found was a broken freon line. Everyone said to bad so sad you have to buy a new unit and deal with the thermostat issues. I remembered Ivan said he had repaired his AC, so after talking to Ivan I decided to fix the AC. My neighbor just happens to be a AC guy and he silver soldered the bad line. drilled a hole in the charge line and silver soldered a fitting on it so a vacuum could be pulled on the system and he charged it based on what Ivan said he put in his unit. Cleaned everything, put new foam on, put the cover on and fired it up. Runs like a champ and cools real good. A real good shout to Ivan for the help and for saving me a couple thousand dollars.

PS first pic below is the repaired line. Next 2 are different angles of the new line to charge the system. 4th pic is the broken line.

Once I get my coach back next week from the accident repair, I'll give that king controller box a visual, lubricate what I can and just do an inspection. I haven't had any indication that the thing is going bad but murphy's law rules. The only thing I've ever noticed is if I have my hazard blinkerson while going up a real steep hill and go down into second gear The coach will lurch.Every time the blinker goes on , so I just don't do that.

Windshield Defroster fan not working
Selah77

I have a 2006 Monaco Camelot and there are 2 fans that are used for defogging the windshield along with the dash defroster/defogger fans. They are near the windshield, one is mounted above the driver's seat and the other is located above the passenger seat. Both are aimed at the windshield. The passenger side is working but the driver side isn't. The driver's side broke loose after hitting a bad hole on the Interstate. I connected the fan to a 12 volt source and it works fine so the problem isn't with the fan.

I noticed when removing the fan as it was just hanging by one screw that one of the wire leads had part of the sheathing scraped away. I'm thinking that exposed part may have touched the metal frame in the pillar. Does anybody know if there are fuses for these and where are they? I've looked in the driver's side front outside compartment but I didn't see any fuse labeled for these fans.

I couldnt get myself to cutting a hole in the side of the coach. The exhaust flex pipe was a bit hard to manipulate on such a short length but it worked out quite well in the end. I can still easily pull out the furnace assembly from the outside of the coach fairly easily and there was no visible changes from the exterior.

Not sure what is exactly going on there but I would stop using that fridge immediately. If you are pulling 30 amps you would need a minimum 10 gauge wirewhich I know there is not going to the fridge (30 amps is max limit for 10 gauge wiring). I am not sure how you are not popping your breakers? Hopefully there is no smoke about to be let out of the circuit or fridge.

I ran a Switchbot smart plug on my Norcold and I noticed it would consistently pull around 500-600 watts of power which is around 4.2 to 5 amps of 120 volt. I only have about 2 months of data before I decided to throw out the Nevercold.

So I have an appointment at Cummins on Monday morning to have their generator tech troubleshoot.
As previously stated I tried to run genny and it wouldn’t stay running. (2 blinks; low oil pressure code) There was only 34 hours on new oil and filter.
Itopped off oil to full mark (it was 3/4 full on hash marks) and it still wouldn’t stay running. Tried multiple times over two week period, no change. I decided to try another oil and filter change. First start produced the same results. Shut down and 2 blink. I tried again and this time it stayed running. So I let it run for about an hour. Didn’t think to try to restart right then. Coach sat for four days and I went to start; same old result. (1 hour on fresh oil & filter) Shut down, 2 blinks. I checked the oil and it was again 3/4 full on hash marks. I added 6 oz oil and it stayed running. And now next day with oil at full mark, it won’t stay running again. I’m thinking faulty oil pressure switch??? I’m afraid a trip to Cummins is in order.

Yep, sure sounds like a faulty oil pressure switch or a oil pressure switch wiring/connection issue.

2007 Dynasty front run box J Plugs And #9 Board In FRB

I did receive the Pins today for the J plugs, will try replacing those this weekend. Never found any informations for the FRB #9 Circuit Board.

Any information or direction?

Based on the picture you posted of FRB #9 PCB, I see that the clear copper trace going to the empty relay socket overheated melting off the green color film and is likely broken. PCB #9 and #10 are the same boards. If you can't find one at a salvage yard, I can likely repair your failed board. If you want to go that route, send me an offline PM. If you are handy and can read the circuit diagram in the Downloads files, you might be able to identify the broken trace and resolder it.

So when you store your rig you just disconnect the batteries?

Yes, when I store my coach not connected to shore power it is best to disconnect the batteries. I remove the ground cables on the chassis 12 volt batteries and for the house 6 volt batteries, I remove the small jumper cables going between each set of two 6 volt batteries.

WA, OR, CA trip

Yosemite: We stay at Yosemite Lakes RV "Resort" just outside the NW entrance to the park ... 5-10 minutes ... (and also close to the "forgotten" side Hetch-Hetchy). The bus route also stops there if you want to be bussed in versus driving and hunting for a valley floor parking space, but we always have driven in. It's ELS-Encore-1000_Trails but works great for us. Grandson loves fishing & kyacking in the river right behind the RV.
